[OOC] STUFF I SHOULD KNOW
Sep. 2nd, 2012 12:47 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Geared mostly towards DC characters:
Is there anything that Bruce should or would know about you, your history, and your past interactions with Bruce/Batman, or your impact on the universe in general? Oversharing is ALWAYS appreciated. Even if it's something I've read, I'd like to know what bits of plot you'd like me to play with or think would make good CR. If you happen to know issues of comics or specific storylines that you'd like me to brush up on, that's also great, but not needed.
Thanks in advance!

Date: 2012-09-02 08:18 am (UTC)I have her history in my journal (here) if you'd like to read more about that situation. I can also provide some reading refs/scans regarding Batman and Huntress in Earth-2 if you'd like, as well as the issue that explains how Bruce and Selina finally got together in that world. IDK what else to say here oops. :>

Date: 2012-09-03 01:45 am (UTC)Jason appears again in Hush very briefly, but his true comeback is Under the Hood, which spans Batman #635-650, roughly, plus the Batman Annual #25. During the interim period, he was chillan' with Talia al Ghul, which is covered in Red Hood: The Lost Days.
Their relationship is really difficult and has kind of always been. Jason doesn't blame Bruce for his death as much as Bruce seems to blame himself. Jason is more pissed that his death didn't give Bruce the epiphany he thinks it deserved. There's also some mildly oedipal overtones in the later stuff, since it's been retconned that Jason was involved with Talia al Ghul, she's really the one who put the "be a better Batman" idea into his head, and she's definitely a mother figure/mentor to him in a lot of ways.
I can't really think of much to say that you wouldn't already know, but if you have any questions specifically about Lost Days, or something more character specific like that, ask away. I'll be happy to answer whatever.

Date: 2012-09-04 06:40 pm (UTC)THAT SAID.
Terry was born a McGinnis, but due to complicated shenanagins involving Amanda Waller, Project Cadmus, and genetic manipulation, is genetically a Wayne - when/if Bruce gets his bloodwork done, he'll be able to see that Terry is genetically his son. Terry does not know about this, and will actually be pretty upset when it comes out, but there we have it! I also have it headcanoned that he's played around with drugs, so he might well see that. Of course, he's also been drugged and poisoned and all sorts of things as Batman and as training for Batman so bloodwork will probably also show up that, which might make any previous records confusing.
One big relevant thing in the City is that Terry kidnapped Tim, knocked him out, and swept him for bugs once he was canon updated and found out that Tim (in his universe) eventually becomes the Joker. He also dragged one of the Robins - Carrie, who isn't here anymore - in with him. The other big thing is he's from the future.
If you've got any other questions, feel free to ask, but I think that's most of the relevant info.
... OH and the obvious one of he's Batman in the future when Bruce is like 80 but. Haha.

Date: 2012-09-06 11:37 am (UTC)Katherine Rebecca Kane was born into a military family. Both Jake and Gabi Kane were in the US Army. Also, Kate had a twin sister named Elizabeth. I'm not sure how much is public knowledge, but I assume some wealthy families and those with connections are somewhat aware Gabi and her daughters were kidnapped in Brussels. Jake led the rescue team but in Bruce's words, it was "reported" Kate was in the room where both Gabi and Beth died. Many years later she tried to follow in her parents' footsteps at USMA but was expelled under DADT.
The Kane family is the second richest after Bruce's. The now Colonel Jake Kane remarried a wealthy socialite named Catherine Hamilton. Again, I don't know if this is still canon since it was written in 52... but the money comes from Hamilton Rifle Company. Gothamites mostly know of Kate for spending her nights out partying and spending her stepmother's money.
Also, prior to her meeting of Bruce!Bat when she didn't know what to do with her life, her appearance was different. When she left for two years and came back, she started wearing heavy make-up, etc. Sports a rockabilly look these days.
When the Religion of Crime kidnapped her, Renee Montoya and Dick Grayson went in to rescue her. Kate was stabbed, though she survived and was hospitalized for a month. I assume these kind of things are gossiped about among Gotham's wealthy and powerful. The thing with Kate's canon is it's incredibly self-contained and isolated from the rest of the DCU, so not many people are aware she's technically this... famous heiress from Gotham. Her cousin is also Bette Kane, also known as the hero Flamebird who was (is?) a Teen Titan.

Date: 2012-09-06 09:51 pm (UTC)There's a retelling of Bruce and Ollie's first meet in Legends of the Dark Knight: The Arrow and the Bat (#127-131, specifically). It pretty much establishes their tenuous, not-exactly-friends status, and illustrates the differences between Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen, and Batman and Green Arrow. To my knowledge, their first big post-crisis meeting is in the Batman/Green Arrow/Question Annuals of 1988, Fables. All three of the titular characters are contacted by Shiva and have to work together on an errand for her. It's a caper and doesn't really have that lasting an effect on anybody, but there you go. During roughly the same time period, Batman and Green Arrow have another adventure in Batman/Green Arrow: The Poison Tomorrow. That's a little better for their dynamic and establishes some basic philosophical differences between them.
I'm relatively sure that Zero Hour would have been one of the last times Batman and Green Arrow worked together prior to Ollie's death. After his resurrection several years later, Batman was the first of the caped and spandexed bunch to notice that Olle, specifically, was back and acting as Green Arrow. He was influential in convincing Ollie that 1) it wasn't the 80s anymore, and 2) that he needed help in order to come back to life fully. Batman introduced Ollie to Jason Blood and Etrigan, which prompted the reveal of Hal's involvement in his resurrection. Later on, during the events of Identity Crisis, it was revealed that Ollie had been a party to Zatanna erasing some of Bruce's memories. He and several other members of the Justice League had done it in an effort to conceal some of the less glamorous aspects of preserving their secret identities. Ollie felt terrible about it, and was even more antagonistic to Bruce in an effort to keep him at arm's length. During Under the Hood, Bruce went to Ollie to ask about the circumstances surrounding him coming back to life when he was investigating the whole thing regarding Jason. It's implied that Bruce knows that Ollie's keeping something from him, but never how much of it Bruce has figured out. Ollie kind of assumes that Batman's detective skills will eventually kick in and he, Zatanna, and everyone else in that little corner of the league will be found out, assuming the other league members really want to know. (Throughout that arc, he takes the attitude of "people hear/see what they want to hear/see" as a means of rationalization.)
So uhh, tl;dr - They've had some adventures. I have scans of most of them if you're missing anything and want to read it through yourself. Other than that, their relationship can be mildly antagonistic, but they're definitely always allies even if they don't get along, and do seem to respect each other on some level. Ollie also has issues with Batman's handling of sidekicks. He plays the whole sidekick/ward thing a little closer to the chest, or at least, likes to pretend like he does. That's a mildly hypocritical thing but uhh, that's Oliver for you.
